Causality Between Conducting Plates*

چکیده

. A two-loop QED effect, uncovered by Scha.rnhorst, causes the phase and group velocities of an electromagnetic wave with w << m, to slightly exceed c, when the wave is travelling in vacua between, and perpendicular to, two parallel conducting plates. Using causal rather than Feynma.n graphs, we show that the wavefront still travels at exactly c. The two-loop effect thus poses no threat to causality in QED. Submitted to Phys. Lett. Superluminal propagation of light in gravitational field and non - causal signals

It has been found in several papers that, because of quantum corrections, light front can propagate with superluminal velocity in gravitational fields and even in flat space-time across two conducting plates. We show that, if this is the case, closed time-like trajectories would be possible and, in particular, in certain reference frames photons could return to their source of origin before the...

Unsteady Flow and Heat Transfer of a Dusty Fluid between Two Parallel Plates

The purpose of the present paper is to study an unsteady laminar flow and heat transfer of an incompressible, conducting viscous dusty fluid between two infinitely non-conducting parallel plates. The flow is influenced by pulsatile pressure gradient, uniform magnetic field which is applied perpendicular to the plates and due to oscillations of the plates. The governing partial differential equa...

Unsteady flow of a dusty fluid between two parallel plates bounded above by porous medium

The purpose of the present paper is to study an unsteady laminar flow of an incompressible conducting viscous dusty fluid between two infinitely non-conducting parallel plates, where above plate is bounded by porous medium. The flow is influenced by pulsatile pressure gradient, uniform magnetic field which is applied perpendicular to the plates and due to oscillations of the plates under the ef...

Unsteady Flow of a Dusty Conducting Fluid Between Parallel Porous Plates With Temperature Dependent Viscosity

This paper studies unsteady laminar flow of dusty conducting fluid between parallel porous plates with temperature dependent viscosity. The fluid is acted upon by a constant pressure gradient and an external uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plates. The parallel plates are assumed to be porous and subjected to a uniform suction from above and injection from below. The visco...
